We were thrilled to plan a fun Oscar Party segment for yesterday’s WGN Midday Fix! Our very own Emily Weinstein made her TV debut and earned an Oscar for her performance in our book!
To begin the party planning process, we chose a color palette of black, red, gold and ivory to celebrate old Hollywood glamour. The Ivory Twist linen with the Cameo Tori Table Runner from BBJ Linen created the perfect foundation to show off the gorgeous floral arrangements that Platinum Events created for the segment! We loved that these stunning floral pieces are quick and easy to create, just grab some roses from the market, clean off all the leaves, bunch them together so that the heads are at about the same level, and cut stems at a right or left degree angle so they lay angularly in the vase. You can also create a bunch to hand out to a guest who wore the best costume or created the best bracket! To finish off the decorations, you can easily print off Oscar movie posters and stick them in frames you have around the house, to incorporate even more movie magic into the fete!
Jewell Events Catering helped us out and created some of the most stylish fare for this Oscar viewing party! The Oscars are, of course, this Sunday, so we feel it’s best to do an open house style party, so that guests can swing by and then head home early if need be for work on Monday! With an open house style party, you want to make sure that your food is easy for guests to munch and mingle with. That being said, Jewell wrapped the cutest mini-hot dogs in tuxedos, so they are portable and ready for the red carpet! Obviously, you can’t have a party about movies without popcorn! Jewell made both a savory and sweet version, to satisfy any guest! Dusted in gold flake, this popcorn is ready to party! To satiate guests’ thirst, we suggest splits of champagne, which is always celebratory, and Shirley Temples for the kids! Not only do they go with the color scheme, Shirley Temple was the youngest person to win an Oscar, so you can share that bit of trivia with your guests!
Finally, candy is very important to any party, especially one that is all about movies! Sugar Chic Designs created a Oscar Chic Concession stand to delight guests! Creating a candy station is the perfect way to offer guests fun take aways after a fantastic evening. Erickson Design created fun, Oscar themed tags for the takeaway candy, which just adds to the fun.
