New York Bridal Fashion Week, Spring 2019, Day 1

April 12, 2019

I am really excited for the opportunity to be back in New York for bridal fashion week, working alongside my husband and with the Modern Luxury Weddings team. The day began at 4:00 am and ended at 8:30 with no breaks, but the opportunities are so incredible that it is all worth it.

Day one started earlyyyyy, but we hit the ground running with the first collection right at 11:00 am and completed the day with the last one at 6:00 pm. A very special shout out to Carlos at Tri State Chauffeurs for getting us everywhere we need to be safely, on time and in style. And including lunch on the go!!!

Our first official collection that we saw today was classic beauty, and classic Romona Keveza. As you may remember, I wore Romona Keveza for my own wedding, and I find her to be one of the most inspiring women I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. The construction of her gowns would be my favorite thing about them if not for the incredible fabrics and hand done details. Except that even more than that, I love how easy they are to wear. Her collection was timeless as always, and I loved seeing her and her team first thing this morning!

Inspired by the glam of the 1970’s THEIA channeled plunging necklines, dazzling disco and killer jumpsuits all reinterpreted for the modern bride. And this collection was speaking my language, let me tell you! From the huge hats to the glamorous glitz, I was actually obsessed and impressed all at one time in droves!

Inspired by Italian gardens, the new collection from Monique Lhuillier was all romance. Walking into her showroom is like entering a dream, from the gorgeous gowns to the dainty floral to the shoes on the wall, everything about it is fanciful romance and ever so feminine.

Lela Rose had us feeling all kinds of joyful whimsy today at Chelsea Piers with her new collection. From carousels to unicorns to cotton candy and all the beautiful gowns, I loved every moment. There is always something so whimsical and unabashedly romantic about Lela Rose and that is always so lovely to see. Also – there were unicorns guys. UNICORNS!

I always dream with Reem. Reem Acra‘s new collection was all about gratitude, grace, style and fun. It was gorgeously complimented with floral from Preston Bailey and menswear from Joseph Abboud. Reem Acra showed her new collection at St. Bartholomew’s Church, commonly called St. Bart’s, a historic Episcopal parish founded in January 1835, and located on the east side of Park Avenue. The presentation was set to Madonna. Combine history, a beautiful place of worship, incredibly fashion and some of the best songs ever and it is a pretty wow experience.
