Hello! Thank you so much for your interest in MDE, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding or event!
I founded this company in 2008, founded on the principle that event planners must be good sources of creative ideas combined with practical experience, flexibility and know-how to manage an event from beginning to end. Since then, I am proud to say that we have been privileged to work with corporate, social and non-profit clients, producing numerous events throughout the country.
In 2010, I decided to expand our list of services to include wedding coordination and destination management in addition to event management and creative development. I am the third generation of entrepreneurial spirit, and passionately dedicated to the evolution of my company and our perpetual commitment to excellence with each of our clients.
Michelle was selected as a “Bride’s Choice” winner on Wedding Wire in 2013, and “Best of” wedding planner by The Knot in 2014. She has been a member of Style Me Pretty’s “Little Black Book” and a Grace Ormonde Platinum Wedding vendor. Her work has been featured locally in Chicago Social Brides, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Chicago Magazine, Today’s Chicago Woman, Your Trendy Magazine, and Chicago Style Weddings. It has been seen nationally on Style Me Pretty, Grace Ormonde, MOD weddings, Wedding Chicks, and Style Unveiled.
During college, I studied and attended university in both the United States and Italy, graduating from Dominican University with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Italian Language Studies. I studied italian because I love it, and am so proud to speak it fluently and carry on my heritage through my language skills. I began my career with an internship at Jasculca/Terman & Associates in Chicago, a public relations firm specializing in PR and event management. A highlight of my time there was having the chance to be a part of the team that produced the dedication ceremony for the grand opening of the William J. Clinton presidential library in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was an incredible experience, and the lessons that I learned from it are ones that I still carry with me today, and apply to every event and wedding that I produce. While it may seem unrelated, learning how to produce a live event for a crowd of 30,000 people that was televised live across the globe provided me with a key component to what separates MDE from so many other planning firms out there; logistics management and timing are where are focus is centered.

Charity work is also something that has been with me throughout my career, and I love working with non profits, and volunteering my time whenever I can. Through Michelle Durpetti Event’s contributions to non-profit clients, we have helped to raise over $500,000 towards various charities.
Now in our 11th year with MDE, I still love working with couples to plan their weddings, and I love producing events. I balance my time between MDE and being a managing partner in my family’s business here in Chicago while also being a competitive amateur equestrian. I do all of these things because I love to experience life, seek inspiration everywhere I can, chase my dreams, and work hard for my clients.
What I have learned producing over 350 weddings and events is that the feeling that comes from a beautifully curated experience is one that guests will carry with them long after the last dance.
