Traditions are some of my favorites things. I find comfort in ritual, seek solace in the funny expressions of my nonno, my zia, my mom. I find much inspiration in the lived in wisdom passed down from one family member to another. So it is no surprise that as a wedding planner, creating memorable experiences that fold in a touch of tradition alongside some serious style is something I love to do for my clients. Layering in a few classic traditions just brings that much more authentic feeling to a day, and I love nothing more than that when creating an event!! This particular tradition (in the photo) is especially close to my heart. Bomboniere, as they are called in Italy, or favors here, often include jordan almonds and this sweet little saying for many of us of Italian Descent. The five almonds represent 5 wishes for the newly married couple; “health, wealth, happiness, family and a long life...” - is that not the sweetest? What are some of your favorite traditions? Imagine you’re throwing a dinner party and you get to invite 3 people—ANY people—you want to come. Who makes the list? I have thought about this so many times. And I can never bring my list to three, it is so hard! So, I added to mine. And it would be as follows: My grandfather Gene, Oprah Winfrey, Audrey Hepburn, Lorenzo De Medici, Anna Wintour, Serena Williams, Oscar Wilde, Leonardo Da Vinci, Elizabeth Taylor, and My parents, but at 40 years old. And those are just off the top of my head. From the arts to politics to history, my dream would be to sit at a table surrounded by the minds and hearts that have inspired me in some way and have the privilege of seeing them all contribute to one incredible conversation full of insight, advice and humor. A group of talented individuals who give their enthusiasm, talent and effort to every wedding and event we produce, and to every client we work with. Not pictured is Nicole (who is actually in the post before this one!), because she was running point on an engagement party while I was on site for this gorgeous wedding and incredible couple. It is rare that we split our team. We don’t believe in quantity and multiple weddings throughout a weekend, because we enjoy keeping the quantity of events we produce small so that we can give the most to our clients. Occasionally, for a special client we are happy and completely capable of making it happen.
