Turns out, 15 guests is plenty to get the party started.

For Joelle + Michael, a tight guest list left room to make the celebration unmistakably theirs with the people they love the most.

If you listen closely, you can hear “Lean on Me” playing as Cass and I walk into the ring. Pretty perfect timing. 🥰

Our second year at Capital Challenge in the 3’3” Amateur Owner Hunters, 36 & Over. Two days of learning, an 85.25 that meant more than the number, and Cass being exactly who I needed him to be.

Four weeks out from an AC joint separation, with multiple businesses to run, getting here took some doing. Competing alongside such talented amateurs and extraordinary horses is both motivating and a little intimidating. Congratulations to everyone on some beautiful rounds!! Love cheering on my fellow amateur hunter riders. 👏🏻👏🏻

Cass was six when our story started, and I needed a serious payment plan to bring him home. He’s almost 18 now. Still chasing big things together, still teaching me about courage, communication and partnership.

Thank you, East Winds, for taking such good care of us and helping us keep getting better. 🤍

Cass, thanks for always being the soulmate I can lean on. Dad, I suspect you were on DJ duty up there today. Good song choice.

Forever a horse girl, chasing dreams and singing in the ring. 🤍

It’s hard to believe the earth has continued to exist, and life has moved on for two years since that day you left us. But I know that while your not here physically anymore, your lessons, your knowledge and values, your wit, your work ethic and your love and legacy live on on so many ways and so many of us. And don’t get me started on your humor (watch until the end, @elianroseandlucygoose you should remember that one!).

Dad, you’re so missed. And so loved. And so celebrated. Thank you for being such a person that so many miss you, and for being the kind of dad that most people only wish or dream about.

For me, immense grief is proof of immense love, so the grief I carry with me for you is one I carry with honor and not sadness most days. Until we meet again, I will keep looking for you in all the signs you send. 🤍

Love you. Michelle
