There are few experiences in our industry that feel as energizing as they are grounding — and Engage! Santa Barbara was exactly that.

Set against the golden coastline of Santa Barbara, with sweeping ocean views and that effortless West Coast warmth, this gathering felt like a true exhale as we closed out the year. Hosted at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Engage! brought together hundreds of the world’s most thoughtful, talented, and forward-thinking luxury event professionals — each arriving with their own point of view, experience, and passion for this work.

From the moment we arrived, the tone was clear: this wasn’t about rushing from session to session or checking boxes. It was about conversation, connection, and intentional time together.
One of the things I always value most about Engage! is the caliber of voices in the room — and Santa Barbara delivered. Hearing from industry icons and innovators like Mindy Weiss, Marcy Blum, Tyler Speier, Sarah Haywood, David Stark, and others sparked thoughtful conversations around creativity, leadership, business evolution, and what it truly means to design experiences that resonate.

These weren’t surface-level talks. They were honest, strategic, and deeply relevant — reminders that growth in this industry comes from curiosity, collaboration, and staying connected to why we do what we do.

Just as impactful were the in-between moments: impromptu conversations over coffee, shared meals, late-night reflections, and reconnecting with friends and collaborators I’ve admired for years — alongside meeting new talents who are shaping what’s next.
See details from past Engage! events we’ve attended including Engage! Mallorca, Engage! Tuscany, Engage! Nemacolin, Engage! Ravello.
The events themselves were a masterclass in layered design and thoughtful production. From vibrant, heritage-inspired details at Bacara to the cinematic, old-Hollywood-meets-Montecito evening at Rosewood Miramar Beach, every environment felt intentional and transportive.

Black-and-white palettes, lush greenery, chandeliers, vintage champagne carts, live orchestration, and cabaret-style entertainment created spaces that invited people to linger — to talk, to laugh, to actually experience the evening rather than rush through it.

It was joyful, immersive, and incredibly well executed.
One of my favorite parts of this trip was carving out time to do what we do best: touring properties with future clients in mind.
Santa Barbara is such a compelling destination for celebrations — refined but relaxed, elegant without feeling precious. Taking the time to explore hotels and venues firsthand, understanding flow, guest experience, and how each space actually feels, is invaluable. These are the details that allow us to guide our couples and clients with confidence and clarity when they’re choosing a destination that needs to feel just right.
Being able to blend education, connection, creativity, and real-world scouting is what makes gatherings like this so meaningful for our work.
Engage! Santa Barbara was a reminder of how special this industry can be when we show up with generosity, openness, and a shared commitment to excellence. I left feeling inspired — not just creatively, but professionally — and grateful for the community that continues to challenge, support, and elevate one another.
Sunshine, thoughtful conversations, extraordinary talent, and a coastline that never disappoints — a pretty wonderful way to close out the year.
