Hi everyone! My name is Annie Weeden and I am the new summer intern of Michelle Durpetti Events. I am very excited to be part of the MDE team and I look forward to a fun-filled summer learning the ins and outs of wedding planning. My first task as the new intern was to research a little bit about Bridal Fashion week and the upcoming trends that can be see in the following year as the wedding season approaches. So here it goes!

Bridal Fashion Week in New York is the time of year where every high-end designer is asked to think beyond the traditional silhouettes, trends, and styles in order to create something fresh and new for the upcoming brides. By pushing these boundaries of convention, designers are free to innovate bold looks that inspire women on their search for the perfect dress. Bridal Fashion Week is a spectacular event that is hosted every spring and fall in the outskirts of Manhattan to foreshadow the upcoming fashion trends.

This past spring Michelle had the opportunity to travel with Dimitra’s Bridal to Bridal Fashion Week (April 16-18) which housed many well-known designers such as Reem Arca, Francesca Miranda, Romona Keveza, Stephen Yearick, and Michal Medina who presented their gowns that represented their definition of being bold. Reem Acra played with a new chic look that twists the traditional style and combined it with a more modern approach. Francesca Miranda on the other hand takes the common silhouette to a new level by creating volume. Romona Keveza encompassed many pastels such as a subtle pink and a lovely lilac in her flawless gowns. Every creation seemed to incorporate a “Coachella vibe” with wispy feathers, deep v necklines, streamer sleeves, bows, pastels, and bridal capes. All of the designers have their own style and every year they push themselves past common trends in order to create a new refreshing design that will capture the eye of every bride. Because a wedding dress is not only seams and endless thread, but a creation brought to life by a fearless mind of a dreamer and a treasured emblem of a beautiful memory.

It was such a treat for Michelle to attend bridal market with Maria of Dimitra’s Bridal here in Chicago! Thank to Collin Pierson Photography for capturing these great photos during their time there!
