Things We Are Loving Now!

July 24, 2013,

With things in full swing for wedding season, and the weather being absolutely gorgeous outside, we have been one active MDE bunch! In all our activity, we have happened across a few of our favorite things that we wanted to share!

We are dying over these amazing Volcanica Candles, which Michelle found on One Kings Lane. They are all handcrafted in Bali and made of an eco-friendly mixture of beeswax and palm wax. We love this wicker-like version, but they have all kinds, varying from a rose candle to a square candle with faces on each side!

With all the fresh flowers abounding along with the warm weather, we have been on the hunt to find some equally as pretty vases, and Jonathan Adler has created some gorgeous ones to fit the bill! These lucite stunners are perfect for even the most colorful of arrangements!

BHLDN

One of our favorite things to do (whether we are actually on the hunt for a specific item or not!) is to visit our local BHLDN store. Not only are the ladies there amazing, everything is so insanely gorgeous! We have a November bride who is looking to incorporate some fun, vintage-y knick knacks into her big day, so we were thrilled to find out BHLDN is having a sale on decorations! Check it out, if you dare!

In a town as obsessed with hot dogs as Chicago, we can’t believe that this year’s Chicago Hot Dog Fest is the first of it’s kind! Put on by the Chicago History Museum (which also happens to be one of our favorite venues in the city!), the fest will include eight different varieties of dogs, live music and Bruce Kraig and Patty Carroll, authors of Man Bites Dog, discussing hot dog culture in America.

Chicago has been oppressively hot lately and we have found ourselves frequently reaching for some flavored water! Such a great way to stay hydrated, without all the calories of soda. One of our favorites is whipping up some strawberry basil water. Just throw strawberries, basil and some lemon juice in to a big jug, fill it with water, let it sit for 2-3 hours (if you can!) and enjoy! We also love using sparkling water, because we love everything and anything that sparkles.
