Embracing the Alpine Elegance: My Journey at the Privé Retreat in Davos, Switzerland

Every so often, an experience comes along that truly shifts your perspective. For me, that was the Privé Retreat in Davos, Switzerland—an intimate, invite-only gathering hosted by the talented Maya Jain, founder of Tyrian Purple Consulting, Transform Your Planning, and the Annaina app, alongside Jules Schneider of The Tailors Photography. With only a handful of wedding planners invited, it was an honor to be among such a distinguished group, all coming together to deepen our expertise in luxury destination weddings. The vendors that were there were all such talented, hard working people ad it was a pleasure to connect with everyone! 

Day 1: Arrival and Unwinding at Hotel Waldhuus

Our journey began in the breathtaking town of Davos, a Swiss Alps gem known for its stunning landscapes and elegant atmosphere—an incredible setting for destination weddings. We were warmly welcomed at Hotel Waldhuus, a charming retreat that seamlessly blends traditional Swiss hospitality with modern luxury.

One of my personal highlights? The spa. I can confidently say I had the best massage of my life there! Not to mention, the hotel’s spring-fed amenities offered a unique and rejuvenating experience, making it a true oasis in the Alps.

That evening, we kicked things off with a relaxed welcome reception, connecting with fellow planners and setting the stage for the days ahead.

Day 2: Alpine Adventure to Fuxägufer

The following day was nothing short of spectacular. We set out on an unforgettable ski lift journey to Fuxägufer, a secluded mountaintop restaurant high above Davos. The only way to get there? A ski lift ride through the crisp Alpine air, offering jaw-dropping views of the snow-covered peaks.

Once we arrived, we were greeted by the warm hospitality of Fuxägufer, a venue that also hosts private events and weddings. The combination of rustic charm and panoramic scenery made it crystal clear—this is a dream wedding location for couples who want an unforgettable, high-altitude celebration.

Day 3: Closing Dinner at Berghotel Schatzalp

Our final day began with exhilarating winter activities, followed by an elegant closing dinner at the historic Berghotel Schatzalp—a venue steeped in history, perched high above Davos with sweeping views of the Alps.

Built in 1900 as a luxurious tuberculosis sanatorium, Schatzalp is now a preserved Art Nouveau hotel that radiates old-world charm. The ambiance, combined with its grand architecture and breathtaking scenery, makes it a one-of-a-kind venue for weddings.

To top off the evening, one of our event partners crafted bespoke cocktail creations that reflected local flavors—a masterclass in mixology that made the perfect finale to an already unforgettable experience.

The Privé Retreat solidified what I had already been feeling—Switzerland is an incredible destination for luxury weddings. From Davos to St. Moritz, this region offers a unique blend of cultures (Italian is widely spoken!), breathtaking venues, and a hospitality scene that rivals the best in the world.
