As we reach the midpoint of 2025, it’s clear that weddings aren’t just evolving—they’re becoming more personal, layered, and experience-driven than ever before. At Michelle Durpetti Events, we’ve always believed that every detail tells a story—and today’s couples are embracing that philosophy wholeheartedly.
From deeply rooted cultural moments to design choices with meaning and mindful approaches to the big day, here are the trends I’m seeing—and loving—so far this year.
One of the most exciting shifts this year? Couples are looking for weddings that mean something—not just visually, but emotionally and culturally. As a destination wedding planner who works extensively in Italy, I’ve seen a move away from the “Tuscan villa” aesthetic (although we still love a golden-hour ceremony in Chianti!) and toward more off-the-radar regions like Puglia, Sicily, and even Mount Etna.
Think: multi-day celebrations that begin with aperitivo in a historic piazza, feature menus curated around hyper-local ingredients, and finish with guests dancing under the stars in a citrus grove. It’s culture meets couture—and it’s breathtaking.
Gone are the days of overly matchy, Pinterest-perfect palettes. Today’s couples are craving what I call “lived-in luxury”—design that feels collected, meaningful, and deeply personal.
We’re seeing rich textures, mono-bloom floral moments, and tablescapes that feel more like private dinner parties than formal banquets. Personally, I believe a beautifully layered table speaks volumes—and my 2025 couples agree. Every fork, every flower, every linen tells a story—and the story is always you.
This one’s close to my heart. More and more of my clients—especially Gen Z brides—are prioritizing wellness and emotional intention as part of their wedding weekend. It’s no longer just about the logistics; it’s about how it feels.
One of the most meaningful trends I’ve seen is what I call the “soft start.” Instead of waking up to chaos and timelines, couples are carving out space for breathwork, guided meditations, or even a quiet breakfast with loved ones. I planned a wedding in Puerto Rico that began with a grounding session overlooking the ocean—and you could feel the calm all day long.
Hospitality in 2025? It’s all about going beyond service—it’s about creating connection.
Couples want their guests to feel seen, celebrated, and immersed in something unforgettable. We’re seeing personalized menus that include family recipes, scent bars curated with a couple’s favorite notes, and welcome boxes that feel like gifts, not afterthoughts.
It’s what I like to call “unreasonable hospitality”—and I am here for it.
With content creation and visual storytelling taking center stage, wedding fashion has officially become a multi-day, multi-look affair.

Brides are planning for pre-wedding portraits, post-ceremony outfit changes, and editorial-style day-before shoots. From vintage designer gowns to sleek jumpsuits, style is a language—and couples are speaking fluently.
In fact, I recently co-founded a media company, La Via Visual, with my husband Collin Pierson and filmmaker Philipe Carvalho to meet this exact need: capturing meaningful, stylish moments with intention.
Because your wedding deserves to be remembered in a way that feels cinematic and real.
Here’s what I’m predicting for the rest of this year:
What I love most about 2025 weddings is that they’re not about doing what’s trending—they’re about creating what’s true. True to your story. True to your people. True to your purpose.
At Michelle Durpetti Events, we don’t just plan weddings—we craft experiences that are layered, luxurious, and profoundly personal.
