Old World Romance in NYC

From the moment I learned that my beautiful, funny, stylish, imaginative client was inspired by both the still life of a dutch masters painting and the romance of “The Ball” painted by Victor Gabriel Gilbert, I was instantly in love with them, their story, and this wedding. To bring to life a wedding inspired by art, that is inspired by life is a pretty awesome thing (my art historian soul was in its glory!). Looking at these unforgettably, beautifully old world romantic evening can you feel all of the inspiration? When I saw the opulent floral in the Dutch Masters painting, and felt the warm glow and fluttery movement of “The Ball”, I just knew that working on this wedding would be so special. I am including the two paintings below so you can see what I mean!

Dutch Masters Painting that was sent to me for inspiration by my bride

From the delicate, yet decadent floral to the beautiful linen, with just a hint of gold on the glasses and a darling sweet pea on that linen hemstitch napkin (classic and my favorite alwayssss), this one will forever be a favorite. The dramatic arrangements of blush blooms offset the bold and Medici inspired features and decor of The University Club, which I was dying over for literally the entire wedding. And let’s not forget the tradition of a place card at each seat in addition to an escort card table. We stepped back in time to create this gorgeous wedding, along with some immensely talented creatives we gave it a fresh feel too. Not to mention, that CAKE! It was modeled after the floral that our bride had chosen for her decor and it was just breathtaking!

The Ball” painted by Victor Gabriel Gilbert was a main source of inspiration for our bride and her mom, and I was instantly captivated!

Both this bride and groom had serious style that they brought in spaded to their looks that day. Mary Glenn’s “Green” clutch was everything!! It completely complimented the classic floral choices carried out by Belle Fleur, and gave her beautiful custom Vera Wang that hint of something just a little unexpected. Jesse was not to be outdone in his custom Tom Ford jackets…I just loved everything about their day because it reflected who they are – romantic, stylish, strong, expressive, creative and fun. It was a privilege and a pleasure to work with both of them and their families, and this wedding is one I will carry in my heart for a really long time ❤️

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Green, and thank you for choosing MDE to share in your special day!
